Restored Victorian pine floorboards sanded back to clean, natural timber in a bright Harrogate living room.

PROJECT

Victorian Pine Floor Sanding & Restoration

Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire

This period home in Harrogate had beautiful original Victorian pine floorboards hidden under decades of dark, worn varnish, scratches and ingrained staining. Rather than cover them over or replace them, the owners chose to bring the original timber back to life, keeping the character and history of the floor while making it the centrepiece of the room again.

Method

We started with our dust-free sanding system, which captures up to 98% of airborne dust at the source, so the home stayed clean throughout. Working through progressively finer grits, we stripped away the old varnish and surface staining, lifted years of wear and took the boards back to clean, bare pine, making good splits, gaps and proud nails along the way.

With the original grain and warm honey tones of the pine revealed, we sealed the floor with a hard-wearing, water-based finish that’s low in odour and VOCs. The result is a bright, characterful Victorian pine floor, true to the age of the house and ready to take everyday family life for years to come.
