Solution: We began by carefully cutting back the original flooring to prepare for the integration of the new white oak strip. This process ensured a flush and harmonious join between the old and new wood. Next, the team expertly installed the new flooring, paying close attention to matching the existing borders where necessary. This meticulous approach guaranteed visual continuity and preserved the home’s historic character.
Once the new flooring was in place, the entire floor was sanded back to its bare wood. We then employed their colour-matching expertise to stain the new wood, seamlessly blending it with the original flooring’s patina. This intricate process resulted in a floor that appeared unified and original, as if the extension had always been a part of the home.
The project also presented a secondary challenge: restoring the existing parquet flooring in another room to its former glory. Years of wear and tear had dulled the floor’s natural beauty. Our restoration experts meticulously revitalized the parquet, bringing back its original lustre and ensuring it complemented the newly installed flooring.
